The fence post spikes will go easily into the earth and the 100mm square fence posts will provide a heavy duty frame. All outward facing timber to be tanellised (weather-treated). These come in 4800mm lengths so I decided to use this as the overall length of the shed. They can be cut in half to provide a width of 2.4 metres.<\/p>\n<p>To provide a solid floor I&#8217;ve set 4 intermediate joists, and for the roof frame 2 intermediate joists (as it does not need to be as strong). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timberbeamcalculator.co.uk\/en-gb\/span-table\/floor-joists?load=1.5&amp;class=C24\">Floor span calculator<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Because the roof frame will be on a slope, the floor frame needs to be slightly narrower than the roof one. With a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.calculator.net\/right-triangle-calculator.html\">12 degree slope<\/a>, I calculated the floor frame should be 2350 wide.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1597 alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wickham.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/20220430_1350161874340565973159760.jpg\" width=\"1390\" height=\"790\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wickham.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/20220430_1350161874340565973159760.jpg 1390w, https:\/\/www.wickham.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/20220430_1350161874340565973159760-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wickham.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/20220430_1350161874340565973159760-1024x582.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.wickham.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/20220430_1350161874340565973159760-768x436.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.wickham.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/20220430_1350161874340565973159760-1200x682.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The walls will be constructed of planks of treated timber, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wickes.co.uk\/Wickes-Treated-Sawn-Timber---22-x-150-x-2400mm\/p\/235016\">22mm x 150mm x 2400mm<\/a>. No windows were considered as a security measure. I&#8217;ve added a roll of &#8220;Building Paper&#8221; to the shopping list which should make it more watertight and damp resistent.<\/p>\n<p>With 2400mm length the planks will fit onto to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wickes.co.uk\/Incised-Timber-Fence-Post-100-x-100mm-x-2-7m\/p\/548025\">100mm posts<\/a> perfectly. The supplier has an option to add a membrane to the underside of the sheets which will absorb condensation which I think is a sensible precaution. I decided to add a single 1 metre wide clear roof panel to provide additional light in the shed.
